ISLAMABAD:

Former senator Faisal Vawda has said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has an empty field and can easily sweep the general elections but if he still comes in third or fourth, then it “is not my fault”.

“The field is completely empty. Nawaz Sharif has to run alone,” Vawda said during an interview with a private TV channel on Tuesday.

"Let us face the facts. We have got a chief justice in the form of Qazi Faez Isa. He and his family were disrespected because he was an independent, honest, and courageous man who tried to stand up to the system. The whole system of Pakistan went into action to bring him down but he still stood up.”

The former senator said the system tried hard to bring them down too, but “Allah helped us and we stood up too”.

Vawda said, “Today, if the decision in the Al-Azizia case is correct and Nawaz Sharif has been acquitted respectfully, then the decision taken at that time was wrong. So what will happen to those who made that decision?”

Then who the four-member bench will disqualify and who the five-member bench will qualify, he asked, adding that 50 years after Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s execution, they were symbolically believing that his murder was wrong. “How will they bring him back? What will you do with those who ordered him to be sent to the gallows?”

PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari was kept in jail for 11 years, he said, adding that then under “which order do you send him to the president's office”?

Without naming anyone, he said a gun was put to Imran Khan’s head and courts were opened on Sunday to provide justice.

"The common people are not getting anything."
