Manora to get water filter: Ahmed Shah

CM instructs Treasury Department to release remaining funds so that plant can be fully functional in next four days

Sindh Caretaker Information Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah on Sunday gave the people of Manora Island the good news that they would finally get a reverse osmosis and desalination plant for regular supply of potable water.

On the directive of the Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, a successful operational test of the Manora RO/Desalination Plant has been conducted, Shah said in a message.

Following the successful test, CM Baqar has instructed the Treasury Department to release the remaining funds so that the plant can be fully functional in the next four days, the interim information minister said. Baqar will inaugurate the water facility next week, Shah said.

Meanwhile, Shah addressed a conference ‘Domestic Child Labour in Pakistan’ and the launching of the study on Domestic Child Labour in Pakistan by Human Rights Commission Sindh Chairperson Iqbal Ahmed Detho at a hotel here.

“Our civil society and every educated person has to play their role to discourage and end child labour,” he told conference organized by Sindh Human Rights Commission in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Pakistan (FES Pakistan).
