Medicine warehouse, used clothing depot gutted

KARACHI:

A fire erupted in a medicine warehouse situated atop a two-storey building in Denso Hall, Khori Garden, Medicine Market.

Swift action by the fire brigade, alerted, averted a potential disaster.

Fire brigade officials reported that after an hour-long battle, they extinguished the flames, preventing the spread to adjacent buildings.

There were no casualties, although the medicines and stored goods in the warehouse were consumed by the fire. The immediate cause of the fire remains undetermined.

In a separate incident, a blaze erupted in used clothing warehouse near Niazi Hotel in Ittihad Town.

Timely response from police, Edhi Foundation volunteers, and the fire brigade contained the fire after an hour-long effort.

Used clothing inventory, including denim jeans, suffered damage, though no lives were lost.

The fire brigade managed to salvage a significant portion of the jeans clothes during the operation. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be assessed.

Fire department releases report on Arshi Mall fire

The fire department of the KMC has released its preliminary report about the fire in Arshi Shopping Centre.

According to the report, the building did not have the emergency exit, fire alarm, and exit signs. The cause of the fire could not be known so far, the report said.

The fire incident was reported at 5.41pm and in one minute (at 5.42pm) the department dispatched the firefighting squad.

Two apartments on the second floor of the building were damaged while one flat on the third floor burnt completely. The blaze destroyed 169 shops on the ground floor. However, 120 shops on the ground floor and 30 on the mezzanine floor were saved from burning, the report added.
