NAB denies offer letters to successful candidates

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has declined to issue offer letters to assistant directors who successfully passed the examination conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), citing a purported decrease in workload.
According to sources, NAB has forwarded a summary to the President, urging the cancellation of appointments made by the commission. In response, the 13 successful candidates have penned a letter seeking President Dr Arif Alvi's intervention.
The candidates' letter highlights a Supreme Court order from 2017 mandating that all NAB appointments be made through the FPSC. In adherence to this, the FPSC advertised the recruitment of 55 assistant directors in NAB. The candidates underwent testing in September 2020, document verification on October 25, 2021, and a psychological test based on merit. The list of 54 successful candidates was published in November 2022.

The letter to the President details that NAB had issued offer letters to 54 successful candidates. However, 14 of them did not join NAB, prompting a letter from NAB on February 20, 2023, requesting 14 additional successful candidates.
The FPSC responded with a list of 13 more successful candidates through a press release.
The candidates' letter explains that after a change in the leadership of NAB during the ongoing appointment process, the new chairman suspended the FPSC's recommendations.
