Sajal Aly is a huge superstar and will continue to be: Sonya Hussyn
In a recent episode of Shoaib Akhtar's talk show, renowned Pakistani star Sonya Hussyn found herself in a light-hearted yet humorous situation as she struggled to identify rising stars Sehar Khan, Sabeen Farooq, and Aina Asif by name. The playful banter unfolded as Shoaib and fellow guest Waseem Badami teased Sonya about her difficulty in recalling the names of the emerging talents.
The amusing exchange began when the host asked Sonya about her opinion on which of the three young stars had the potential to become a superstar in the industry, naming Sehar, Sabeen, and Aina. Sonya, admitting her weakness with names, stared blankly, prompting Shoaib to repeat the question. Waseem joined in, inquiring if Sonya was familiar with the mentioned starlets. With a nervous laugh, Sonya acknowledged her name-recognition struggles and apologised for not immediately recognising them.
"They all have great dramas going on," said Shoaib as Sonya struggled. Waseem chimed in, asking if Sonya knew of the young starlets. Sonya laughed nervously, as Shoaib repeated the question yet again. Waseem remarked, "Man, she doesn't know who they are." Feeling the situation getting out of hand, Sonya said, "Perhaps if you could show me their faces?" Shoaib changed the course of questioning, asking Sonya, "Who is your favourite?"
Attempting to diplomatically navigate the situation, Sonya expressed appreciation for the commendable work all stars were doing in their respective dramas. "Nowadays, who's doing good work?" thought Sonya out loud. "They're all doing such great work. Literally -" Shoaib, however, playfully interjected, highlighting how Waseem easily recognised the stars that Sonya struggled to name.
"He must know about everyone," said Sonya. "He knows everything." Shoaib asked if Waseem keeps an eye on women, to which Sonya shook her head, denying the same verbally. "I mean, he keeps his eye on the content, the women," clarified Shoaib, with which Sonya agreed. Waseem, seizing the comedic opportunity, jokingly asked Sonya why she couldn't identify the three stars in question. "Is this both of you versus me?" asked Sonya, wondering if the duo had teamed up against her, despite Waseem having arrived with Sonya.
Eventually, she named Ramsha as someone who might fall into the category of rising stars. "I don't know if Ramsha falls in that category, Ramsha is also good. Nowadays, many actresses are good," said Sonya. When prompted for examples, the star seemed to draw a blank once again. After some back and forth, Sonya said, "I'm so sorry, I'm bad with names." Shoaib continued to jest, throwing in Indian names like Ananya Panday and Priyanka Chopra.
As the jokes at her expense continued, Sonya said to Waseem, "You're going back with me," which Shoaib picked up on and asked the audience to note as well. Getting exasperated, Sonya finally said, "I like Sajal a lot. She's a huge superstar and will continue to be. I really admire Yumna Zaidi."
