KARACHI:

Women have a vital role in the economic well-being of their homes, community and the country, said Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) President Adeel Siddiqui

"The pivotal role of women in the country's development cannot be ignored," Siddiqui said at the Women Art and Craft expo organised by the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) Hyderabad Division.

He emphasised the efforts to boost the art and craft industry for financially empowering women. The three-day event, held from November 30 to December 2, 2023, in collaboration with a local shopping mall, aimed to showcase women's skills through products like handicrafts, purses, bangles, cushion covers, and jewellery.

Siddiqui encouraged women to leverage social media for marketing. Expressing HCCI's commitment to economic development and job creation, he noted the significant role women play in the economies of developed countries and regional economies like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, and China.

Beenish Iftikhar Qadri, founder and president of WCCI (Hyderabad Division), announced plans for a national-level women's art and craft expo, seeking backing from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the Sindh Culture Department.
