Almost two dozen people have been booked for chanting anti-state slogans while celebrating Sindhi culture day outside Hyderabad press club on Sunday. The FIR has been lodged on the state's complaint at Cantt police station, nominating six persons with names besides other unknown ones.
Jameel Ahmed Abro, Abdul Fatah Channa, Fayaz Qureshi, Arbab Bheel, Kamran Haneef and Zeeshan Ali, who are said to be associated with Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (Arisar), are among those booked. The complainant, ASI Arsalan Lateef, nominated them under sections 148, 149 and 123-A of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
He stated that during their patrolling on December 3 when the police mobile reached outside Hyderabad press club he saw the accused persons mounted over a truck, carrying placards, banners and flags of Jeay Sindh. According to him, the persons charged in the FIR were chanting slogans against the country and in favour of Sindhu Desh.
The ASI also claimed that they tried to apprehend the nominated suspects but they escaped taking advantage of the streets located near the press club. Hundreds of big and small rallies were taken out in Hyderabad on Sunday to celebrate the annual cultural day.
