Brussels set to host Kashmir EU Week

Events include seminars, discussions, and a media conference

Brussels-based Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) is set to host Kashmir's EU Week from December 5 to 15 this year at the European Headquarters in Brussels, as announced by KC-EU Chairman Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued on Sunday. The comprehensive lineup of events includes seminars, discussions, a media conference, and a photo exhibition to be held at the European Press Club Brussels and the European Parliament.

In addition to these prominent international events, the agenda encompasses numerous meetings with European officials, members of the European Parliament, and representatives from civil society and human rights organizations throughout the Kashmir EU Week.

Ali Raza Syed underscored that these week-long programs have been a consistent initiative by KC-EU for many years. The goal of these events is not only to showcase the rich cultural tapestry of Kashmir but also to shed light on the hardships faced by the oppressed Kashmiri population in Europe.

He voiced concern that amidst the current global attention on the tense situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, the Modi government will take advantage of this situation to carry out some heinous acts in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Genocide of Kashmiris, extra-judicial killings, arbitrary arrests and crude tactics such as amendment to domicile laws to change the Kashmir demography are part of the Indian nefarious motives. He said that many Kashmiri leaders and activists, including Yasin Malik, are currently under arrest or detention and the purpose of these actions is to suppress strong pro-Kashmir voices.

He paid tribute to Yasin Malik who is likely to be produced in a court on 5th December. He said that we salute Yasin Malik and other brave Kashmiri leaders and activists and appreciate their courage.
