HARIPUR:

A surge in gas load-shedding in Khalabat Sector No. 2 and its neighbouring areas has cast residents into distress. Schoolchildren and employees are forced to depart their homes without breakfast due to the recurring annual problem of Sui gas closures, escalating the challenges faced during winters.

Unfortunately, the Sui Northern Gas Company has proven woefully inadequate in addressing the severe problem of gas closures in Haripur Sector No. 2 neighbourhoods.

Residents of Sector No 2 and Mohalla Ilyasi protested against the Sui Gas Haripur department. The predicament of the gas shutdown is particularly acute in Mohalla Ilyasi of Khalabat Township and the settlements around Tarbela Dam. Consumers, including working professionals and schoolchildren, face significant difficulties.

Residents from various neighbourhoods, including Khalabat Township lament that their gas supply has been completely halted in the early morning during winter for several years. Apart from the challenges of preparing breakfast, households grapple with severe difficulties. Despite the passage of numerous years, the persistent problem remains unchanged, causing severe mental distress among affected consumers.

The district incharge of the gas company attempted to address the issue by replacing a gas supply line some time ago, but the recurrence of gas stoppage during winter mornings has escalated consumer problems. Gas pressure is entirely absent, and as the cold sets in and gas usage increases in the coming days, hundreds of consumers in Mohalla Ilyasi are expected to endure further humiliation and mental anguish.

In response to this pressing situation, the authorities of the Sui Gas Department must urgently devise a solution to the serious problem of the Sui Gas shutdown in Mohalla Ilyasi.
