Labourer knifed to death

Argument over minor issue flares into fatal fight

KALA SHAH KAKU:

A labourer was knifed to death allegedly by a fellow worker over an argument, police said.

The suspect escaped after the incident.

Police said that labourers had been hired by a private housing society to work at their project site near Khuda ki Basti, a suburb of Kala Shah Kaku.

The other day, after knocking off work at night, the labourers returned to their sleeping quarter.

In the meantime, Mohammad Ahmed and his brother, residents of Kot Addu, received a phone call from their home.

As they had been having a chat with their family, some of their fellow workers objected on the pretext of not being able to sleep because of the noise.

Mohammad Ahmed, nevertheless, found the objection by his fellow workers unjust since he had been talking to his family members.

However, his fellow workers persisted in their demand that he stopped using his phone.

The argument got heated, and Muhammad Qalam, Naveed Khan, Attaullah and others allegedly attacked Muhammad Ahmed and his brother Dilshad with a knife.

The brothers sustained serious injuries. Mohammad Ahmed died while he was being taken to hospital.

Dilshad was admitted to a hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
