PESHAWAR:

Caretaker Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Justice (retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on Monday took strict notice of the killing of a girl, purportedly on the orders of a local jirga in Kohistan, directing the authorities concerned to conduct an immediate inquiry.

He contacted the additional home chief secretary, directing him to take all necessary measures and submit a report at the earliest.

On Sunday, a young girl was murdered and another rescued by the police in a case involving a viral video in which both the girls could be seen dancing with local boys.

The girl was killed in the Barsharyal village of Kohistan's Palas — 150km northwest of Mansehra — by her own family members on the orders issued by a local jirga.

The boys featured in the video, which went viral on social media around four days ago, have since gone into hiding.
