Ex-UC chairman, two others killed

Slain leader had been facing murder case

CHAK JHUMRA:

A former chairman of the union council, Ahsan Mustafa alias Daniyal, 50, his guard Karam Rasool and Hawaldar Imran Ashiq Guraya were gunned down near City Gate No. 4 on Wapda Expressway within the limits of Chak Jhumra Police Station, police said.

They said that Ahsan Mustafa had been on his way home after attending a wedding ceremony.

Police said the assailants in two cars had been trailing the former union council chairman’s vehicle.

The assailants opened fire on Ahsan Mustafa’s car near City Gate No. 4 on Wapda Expressway, killing Ahsan, his guard and the Hawaldar on the spot, police said.

After receiving the information about the triple murder incident, police officers arrived at the crime scene, had the bodies of the victims shifted to the hospital for postmortem and formed teams to arrest the suspects.

Police said that six years ago a murder case against Ahsan Mustafa and others had been registered by the Chak Jhumra Police Station in which he had been accused of killing two persons.

Taking notice of the matter, the City Police Officer has ordered a report about the incident from the SP of Madina Town and formed special teams under his leadership to arrest the suspects.

About 10 days ago, five people were gunned down in a broad-daylight attack when some motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire on the vehicle of the victims in Gujranwala, specifically targeting Rana Iftikhar alias Rana Khari.

The attack resulted in the deaths of Rana Iftikhar, his guard, Rajab Ali, Hafiz Sufyan, Buta alias Fauji and Qasid Shah. A passerby sustained injuries.
