Girls clinch top positions in HSC II science group

As many as 30,894 students appear in the annual exam

HYDERABAD:

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad on Friday announced the result of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) part II, or intermediate grade XII, declaring over 93% students in pre-medical group and more than 89% in pre-engineering pass. All the top three positions in the pre-medical went to the female students of three different colleges of Hyderabad.

Areesha Kamran of Hayat Girls College clinched the top slot with 974 marks and 88.55 percentage. Laiba Nadeem of College of Excellence, Latifabad, and Mishal Shaikh of Hiast College, Latifabad, bagged the second and third positions, respectively, with 973 and 963 scores.

Likewise, Maryam Rashid of College of Excellence, Latifabad, secured first position in the pre-engineering group, obtaining 977 marks and 88.82 per cent. Hassan Ahmed of Government Boys Degree College, Kohsar, Hyderabad, and Waleed Ahmed of Pak Turk Maarif International, Isra Branch, Hyderabad, followed her on the second and third positions, respectively. They scored 953 and 950 marks.

As many as 30,894 students appeared in the annual exam in the pre-medical group and among them 28,968 sailed through the test. Likewise, in the pre-engineering group some 9,751 students passed the exam from among 10,917 students who had appeared.

In the general science group, 1,352 students took the test and 1,198 passed it. The BISE Hyderabad conducts exams in all the nine districts of Hyderabad division. A ceremony was also held in the board office in Hyderabad during which the students securing the top positions were given certificates by the chairman and other officials of BISE.
