RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police claim to have cracked a blind murder case of its official who was allegedly murdered by his colleagues for seeking a loan amount of Rs45,000 back in the area of Rawat police station. Police have arrested both suspects.

According to the details, on November 8, Ali Hassan, a resident of Rawat, told the police that his father, Naseer Ahmed, was a watchman in the police department. “He went to work from home as usual and in the evening, a call came from the father’s phone and the caller said that he had been killed by an unknown person and his body was lying in a deserted area in Kharkan village,” the complainant told the police.

Upon the complaint of the victim’s son, the police registered a case against the unidentified suspects and launched an investigation. With the help of modern technology and human intelligence, the police managed to unearth the involvement of the two colleagues of the deceased, including Muhammad Irshad and Shah Nawaz, who are posted in the police department on the posts of gardener and painter.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Saddar SP Nabil Khokhar said the two accused were interrogated based on the evidence and it was revealed that the accused had taken a loan of Rs45,000 from the deceased, which he was seeking back from them.

Khokhar said, the accused, instead of returning the amount, conspired to call him on the pretext of returning his money and shot him dead. Since then the accused had been on the run. However, the police managed to trace their whereabouts and took them into custody.

“Killing one’s colleague for a small amount of money is extremely sad,” he said and added that the accused would be brought to justice with solid evidence and punished accordingly. “No matter how vicious the accused are, they cannot escape from the clutches of the law,” he added.

In September, a police constable was martyred while two others were injured and three suspected robbers were killed during a shootout between police and suspected robbers in the garrison city.

The encounter between the police and robbers occurred when Dhamial police, comprising ASIs Mohammad Javaid and Kafait Khan, and constables Jawadul Hassan, Atifur Rehman and Adeel Zafar, set out to track down a gang of robbers who were wanted in a cell phone snatching case registered at Dhamial police station.
