Armed robbers storm house, hold inmates hostage, and loot valuables

Armed robbers are still active in the city without any fear which negates the tall claims of the authorities that crime graph has come down.

A recent incident of robbery - third in a row during the night time - has been reported in Orangi Town.

According to details, six robbers, armed with firearms and riding three motorcycles, entered the house in the wee hours of Tuesday by scaling the wall. They took the inmates hostage at gunpoint and locked them in a room. They comfortably searched every corner of the house and decamped with Rs380,000 in cash, four mobile phones, gold ornaments and other valuables.

Police reached the spot and called the crime scene unit to collect the evidence.

According to the SHO Mominabad, Ansar Ahmed, the incident took place at around 4:00am on Tuesday while all inmates were asleep. He said, one of the robbers had a short gun, while others carried small weapons.

The victim Mohammad Rizwan has set up a mobile shop and a catering centre in the house, the SHO said, adding that the police are searching for the bandits with the help of CCTV footage and other evidence and it is hoped that the outlaws will be arrested soon.

It may be noted that earlier similar incidents took place on the night between Sunday and Monday in Sharafabad area of New Town and between Saturday and Sunday in Orangi Town Sector 5E of Pir Abad area.
