PESHAWAR:

As winter sets in, the reduction in gas pressure in Peshawar has compelled various businesses, including restaurants and bakeries, to resort to the illegal use of compressors, depriving domestic consumers of gas.

According to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd, gas is a major necessity and compressor usage sucks up pressure, with the result that the rest of the neighbourhood is deprived of the required gas supply and pressure

With plummeting gas pressure, food-related establishments across the city have resorted to compressors to meet their operational demands, exacerbated by the intensifying cold weather.

However, the illicit practice of utilising compressors to augment gas pressure has adversely impacted its supply to households, significantly limiting gas availability in Peshawar during the peak winter season. It not only causes inconvenience to residents but also poses serious risks to their safety.

Reports indicate that compressors are being surreptitiously employed in different localities, including Yusufabad, Gharibabad, Nothia, Sheikhabad and Zaryab Colony.
