KARACHI:

A high-speed Suzuki pickup crashed into a motorcycle near Aga Khan Jamaat Khana on Shahra-e-Pakistan on Thursday, killing woman and her young son. The woman’s brother was also critically injured, while the three-year-old girl riding with them miraculously remained unhurt.

As per details, the highspeed Suzuki pick-up hit a motorcycle near Karimabad Bridge on Shahra-e-Pakistan within the remits of Azizabad police station. The impact claimed the life of a young child on the motorcycle, while a woman and a young man suffered serious injuries. Luckily, the three-year-old girl named Ayman escaped unhurt. The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors later referred the seriously injured woman and the youth to Civil Hospital.

The woman succumbed to her injuries during the treatment. The victims have been identified as four-year-old Anas, son of Aqeel, and 23-year-old Afra, wife of Aqeel. Injured youth was identified as 20-year-old Muaz, son of Zaid, the brother of the deceased woman and the maternal uncle of the child. The injured man remains in critical condition.

The mother and son, residents of New Karachi 11 F, were en route to their grandmother’s house in Liaquatabad when the high-speed Suzuki pick-up hit their motorcycle near the pedestrian bridge and fled the scene. Following due legal procedures, police handed over the bodies to their heirs. Police, with the help of CCTV footage showing the pick-up colliding with the motorcycle, have launched a search for the vehicle.
