No one's an angel: Nida Yasir opens up on Rabia Anum walking out of her show

Television personality expressed her disappointment in the handling of the situation

Celebrated television personality Nida Yasir recently made an appearance on the Excuse Me Podcast, hosted by actor Ahmad Ali Butt. During the candid conversation, Yasir opened up about a controversial incident involving a guest walking out of her show in the presence of Mohsin Abbas Haider.

When pressed by Butt about the incident, Nida openly identified the guest in question as Rabia Anum. The actor inquired, "Was it planned?" to which Nida responded, "No, it was not planned." Butt continued, expressing his view on the matter, stating, "But don't you think it was a huge disrespect that a person was invited to your show as a guest, for that person too? Actually, it's insulting for both."

Nida elaborated on the circumstances, revealing, "Actually, see, what she said was that she didn't know who the other guest on the show was. She found out when she arrived in the morning. If she did find out in the morning in the make-up room - because you know ARY just has one makeup room, they are not segregated - so when she had found out about it and if that was the case, she should have talked to me. She didn't talk to me."

The television personality expressed her disappointment in the handling of the situation, stating, I think she spoke to my team about some [discomfort] - I mean, I was sitting on set. She was uncomfortable and she discussed it with my team, but not with me. So when she took a stand after coming on set, she could have taken a stand behind the camera as well." Butt joined in, describing the incident as "very rude," to which Nida responded, "To tell you the truth, my job, I'm a host. It's my job to respect people."

She continued to share, "No one's an angel. We don't know what people are doing in their homes. It's not like if I invite a guest and they are sitting and I start saying, 'You did this with your mom, you did this to your wife, daughter. Now get up.' I'm no one to be treating them like that. I'm a host, so I have to respect everyone."

In another segment of the podcast, Butt asked Nida about politicians leaving politics, perhaps to join acting. Nida humorously replied, "Many politicians are great actors, they're so lovely and they're photogenic too. Their faces are lovely." When asked about a specific politician who should quit politics, Nida playfully suggested, "And join acting?" She then commented on Maryam Nawaz's photogenic qualities, saying, "Like Maryam Nawaz - I don't think her father and husband will allow her entry into showbiz, but she's beautiful." Butt added, "She's been acting for so many years, she will get a drama." Nida concluded, "That I don't know. But she is photogenic and beautiful. Sharmila Faruqi is also lovely."

The initial discussion was in response to Anum walking out of Yasir's morning show in solidarity with domestic abuse victims after Haider was also invited to join them. Clips of the live incident made waves on the internet, garnering numerous fans and celebrity reactions, who applauded her proactive response. Amidst the praise, however, many also criticised her response. VJ Mathira pleaded for people to be given second chances, suggesting instead that Anum should have left “gracefully”. Actor Mishi Khan called Anum's action a "cringe move" that represented her “bad etiquettes”. Taking to Twitter, Anum responded to the ongoing commentary with a piece of advice. The host highlighted that she only did a "tiny bit" on her part to "break the cycle" of the media still catering to actors after being accused of abuse.
