Pakistan, Uzbekistan discuss agri-trade
Caretaker Federal Minister Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid A Khodjaev, in Islamabad on Tuesday, addressing bilateral trade in agricultural commodities.
The caretaker federal minister for National Food Security & Research (NFS&R) expressed the commitment of the Pakistan Plant Quarantine Rules 2019 to facilitate bilateral trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Malik highlighted the need to augment the export of various commodities from Pakistan to Uzbekistan, including rice, potato, kinnow, fresh mango, sesame seeds, dried chilies, and bamboo sticks.

He disclosed that Pakistan is also considering extending market access to Uzbekistan for additional goods such as watermelon, cherry, melon, lemon, hot pepper, and peach. The technical desk of the department is actively evaluating the Plant Risk Analysis (PRA) information for further proceedings.
