ISLAMABAD:

The Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to former first lady Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Farid Manika against surety bonds worth Rs100,000 in a case regarding occupying cemetery land.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the application filed by Manika’s lawyer.

Additional Prosecutor General Abdul Samad appeared before the court, opposing the bail application.
In the investigation, Samad said, the “petitioner is guilty”.

It was the responsibility of the Auqaf Department to take custody of the land.

Manika’s lawyer apprised the court that the anti-corruption officials arrested Manika for occupying the cemetery land.

“Manika is accused of illegal construction on the land of the cemetery,” the lawyer said, adding that the anti-corruption authorities arrested Manika on Sept 25.

He then requested the court to grant bail to his client.

The court approved the bail plea and ordered that Manika be released.
