Fugitive arrested from Italy after 17 years

At least 129 offenders are extradited from foreign countries this year

LAHORE:

A proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in a double murder was arrested from Italy after 17 years.

According to the details, Abrar Hussain and his accomplices allegedly killed two citizens in the satellite town of Gujranwala in 2006. After the incident, Hussain first fled to South Africa and then to the Netherlands.

Punjab Police requested Interpol to issue a red notice and after continued work for his arrest, the accused was finally arrested from Italy three months ago. A team led by Inspector Khalid Warya departed Italy with the accused to extradite them to Pakistan.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said that the total number of proclaimed offenders extradited from foreign countries this year has reached 129. These fugitives have been arrested from America, Great Britain, South Africa, UAE, Europe and other countries.
