RIYADH:

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas underlined the need for international collaboration to stop Israel from further bloodshed in the Palestinian territories during a bilateral meeting in Riyadh on Friday.

The two leaders were in the Saudi capital to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday (today) to discuss the dire situation in occupied Palestine resulting from the aggression of the Israeli occupation forces both in Gaza and the West Bank.

The prime minister conveyed Pakistan’s unflinching solidarity with the Palestinian people. He denounced the indiscriminate use of force by Israeli occupation forces and bombing of hospitals, refugee camps, schools and residential buildings that killed more than 10,000 people.

Abbas appreciated Pakistan’s expression of solidarity in this difficult time and Islamabad’s principled stance on the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people. They urged the international community to uphold principles of justice and humanity and help end carnage of the Palestinian people.

Prime Minister Kakar and President Abbas emphasised the urgency of an unconditional ceasefire, end to the siege of Gaza and smooth delivery of vital humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the affected population.

Kakar underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to a fair and enduring resolution of the Palestinian conflict. He backed the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.

Meanwhile, talking to the Palestinian media, the prime minister called upon all members of the international community and the responsible governments to help ending violence in Gaza and West Bank immediately.

The prime minister also stressed that humanitarian corridor should be opened as the wounded needed to be treated, the thirsty needed to be consumed with water and the hunger had to be addressed.

“There is also requirement of medicines, food, water, fruits as they are normal human being,” he said.

The prime minister is on his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia to attend the Extraordinary Summit of the OIC convened to discuss the dire situation in occupied Palestine resulting from the aggression of the Israeli occupation forces both in Gaza and the West Bank.

He said it was beyond human imagination that how a human population in 21st century had to pass through such brutal and inhuman experiences. “It should be stopped and everyone around the world should realize that we are talking here about the human beings. Even if you go on hunting campaign and you want to kill the animals in 21st century, you have to follow certain rules and regulations,” he remarked.

He said no one was above the international law and every state had to conduct its behaviour as a responsible government according to international humanitarian law and other laws. He maintained that the military might over defence less people was utterly unacceptable.
