Dengue season to be ‘over’ in two weeks

Changing weather and drop in temperature have put a halt on the number of dengue cases in the Rawalpindi district. As a result, dengue wards in Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital have been closed and replaced with a joint dengue ward at the Red Crescent Hospital, where 48 patients are under treatment.
According to sources, the total number of patients coming to the OPD in the three hospitals of the city, in this season was 14,422, out of which 3,791 patients were admitted while 2,436 tested positive for dengue.

In the last 24 hours, 38 dengue patients were admitted while incoming patients in OPD were 111, of which, dengue was confirmed in 23 patients.
As many as 26 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, raising the total tally of confirmed cases to 2,454 in the district.
District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control said among the new cases, 13 cases had arrived from Potohar Town, seven from RMC, three from RCB and one from CCB.
