Polling preps gather pace in twin cities

Officials initiate verification process for polling stations, formulate schemes

Following the Election Commission of Pakistan’s latest announcement regarding the upcoming general elections, district election commissioners of the twin cities have ramped up election preparations by formulating polling schemes and initiating the verification process for polling stations.

Election Commission staff have begun inspecting polling stations, reviewing facilities, and security measures, and ensuring compliance with polling guidelines. The Rawalpindi District Election Commission staff recently completed visits to numerous polling stations.

In the federal capital, 786 polling stations have been established for three national assembly seats, with 358 for men, 355 for women, and 73 combined polling stations. Seat one will have 245 polling stations, including 111 for men, 109 for women, and 25 combined polling stations. Seat two will have 355 polling stations, comprising 151 for men, 150 for women, and 24 combined polling stations.

The Rawalpindi district will have 2,576 polling stations for seven National Assembly seats, with 846 for men, 686 for women, and 934 combined polling stations. NA-51 in Murree will have 490 polling stations, including 54 for men, 53 for women, and 383 combined polling stations.

Similarly, NA-52 Gujjar Khan will have 489 polling stations, consisting of 96 for men, 94 for women, and 299 combined polling stations. NA-53 Chakri will have 299 polling stations, with 69 for men, 68 for women, and 162 combined polling stations. Moreover, NA-54 Rawalpindi City will host 329 polling stations, with 157 for men, 141 for women, and 31 combined. NA-55 Cantt will have 299 polling stations, including 152 for men, 145 for women, and two combined polling stations.

Furthermore, NA-57 Taxila will have 317 polling stations, with 134 for men, 126 for women, and 57 combined polling stations.
