Employees in five districts will apply for pensions under ‘e-Pension system’

The Department of Education has decided to make the system of issuing pensions to the teachers, clerks and all non-teaching staff online in five districts of the province, including the Rawalpindi division.

From November 15, all retired teachers, clerks, class IV employees and education officers in these five districts will apply for their respective pensions under the newly introduced “e-Pension system”.

In addition to the District Attock of the Rawalpindi Division, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Bahawalpur are also included in these five districts. In its second phase, the e-Pension system will be implemented in other 36 districts of the province at the beginning of the New Year.

Meanwhile, the teachers and clerk organisations have welcomed this new e-Pension system, saying it will not only eliminate corruption and bribery but will also save time for retired teachers and they will be able to apply for a pension, sitting at home or office.

Verification of pension documents and awareness reports about pensions will also be given online. The Ministry of Education has also issued a formal notification in this regard.

In the notification, the chief executive officers of all five districts, district education authorities, and district and tehsil education officers have also been instructed to apprise the teachers and clerks of all the schools about this decision and all those retiring in November should apply under the newly-introduced system for employee pension.
