Police say suspects demand Rs50 million ransom

The Race Course police have launched an investigation into the alleged abduction of two youths from the Dhok Banaras area of the garrison city.

According to a spokesperson, the police are conducting raids following the registration of a case under Section 35 A of the Pakistan Penal Code. Previously, a complainant named Atiya Naheed told the local police that her family resides in Dhok Banaras area and her 20-year-old brother, Rafi Zulfiqar, and 25-year-old brother-in-law, Nauman, were lured away by the unidentified suspects to an undisclosed location.

Upon their arrival, the suspects abducted them. Subsequently, a WhatsApp message was delivered, demanding a hefty ransom of Rs50 million for their release. The complainant also provided the police with the contact details of the suspects and the WhatsApp messages exchanged.

Despite attempts to communicate with the kidnappers, their identities remain unknown.

Moreover, the police have launched efforts for the safe release of the two victims. Authorities are also utilising WhatsApp call messages and geo-fencing technology to aid in the search for the culprits.
