SHC rejects pleas against MDCAT re-conduct

Forensic test of mobile phones proves that paper was leaked, says PMDC lawyer

KARACHI:

Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday rejected two petitions against reconducting the entrance test in medical colleges after hearing the arguments of the parties. A two-member bench headed by Acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard the case.

The petitioner’s counsel Shahab  Sarki  Advocate stated that 40,000 students have been affected. He contended that the paper was leaked four hours before the commencement of the exam while the candidates started reaching the centre three hours before the test started.

Sarki Advocate maintained that the Jinnah Sindh Medical University had cleared the matter. The
acting  CJ  remarked  that  a complete investigation was done  and  the  matter  was  presented before the cabinet and all the reports were produced to the court.

The court remarked that if something has gone wrong, it should be made right. PMDC also supported the decision regarding conducting entrance test again. A reply was filed in the court by PMDC.

PMDC lawyer Zeeshan Abdullah  Advocate stated that the forensic test of two mobile phones was conducted  which  proved  that   the  paper  was  leaked. The inquiry committee and the provincial cabinet told the PMDC that the entrance test would be conducted again.

The petitioners’ lawyers argued that the date of the test should be extended beyond November 19. The court remarked that for such a request, the concerned authority should be approached. The court rejected both the petitions after hearing the arguments of the lawyers of the parties
