Sindh High Court on Wednesday ordered the police to submit a progress report on the Mari Jalbani incident within two weeks and summoned the complainant of the case and legal heirs of the victims.
Sindh Chief Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, heading a two-member bench, heard the plea for a judicial inquiry into the incident related to the killing of four people and the injury of others, including a woman, at the Marri Jalbani village in Sakrand by allegedly by the personnel of a paramilitary force on September 28. Three lawyers - Tahmasp Rasheed Razvi, Zulfiqar Ali Jalbani and Aaquib Rajpar - filed a petition before the SHC, stating that there were many sides to the incident, including media reports and statements from both sides, which were contradictory and created doubts.

Legal representative of the Rangers Habib Ahmed submitted that the court had called for arguments on the admissibility of the application. He said the response to the request has to be submitted by the Sindh government.
The Sindh government has announced compensation to the families of the victims and the injured. The compensation amount will be paid at the ceremony today.
The court summoned the complete record of the case, the investigation officers, and the complainant and the legal heirs of the victims.
