A BEd student who had passed the written exam of the Punjab Public Service Commission was allegedly “deprived” of Rs450,000 and a mobile phone “by her fellow student”.

Batala Colony Police Station registered a case filed by the complainant student, stating that she had passed the Punjab Public Service Commission exam after doing her MSc and was waiting for the interview call.

The complainant told the police that during this time, a close friend of hers, who had been her class fellow as well, told her that she would not get through the interview without some recommendation or bribe.

The complainant told the police that her friend said to her that she had had contacts who would take some money and clear her in the interview and asked for Rs0.5 million. The complainant told police that she paid her friend Rs420,000 in the presence of her father.

The police were told that the complainant’s friend had also asked her for a promissory note and a cheque. She handed over the money to her after signing a blank cheque and the promissory note.

The complainant told the police that her friend had lied to her.
