Dare to wear: Sharmila Faruqui, Yashma Gill go gothic for Halloween
Halloween, the season of spookiness and creativity has arrived, and people from all around the world are embracing the opportunity to don their best costumes. Two prominent personalities, politician Sharmila Faruqui and actor Yashma Gill, recently joined in the Halloween fun by showcasing their unique and eye-catching costumes on Instagram.
Faruqui's choice for this year's spooky season was a Harley Quinn-inspired clown. In her Instagram post, she captioned the pictures with a cheeky note: "Dare to wear the foolish clown face? I may look funny, but my intentions are far from it…" A prominent member of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Sharmila also acknowledged and praised the makeup artist responsible for her creative transformation.
The costume showcased Sharmila dressed in a black and white ruffled shirt, matching pants, and boots, with her hair styled in two buns covered with orange and black bun covers. The gothic makeup and the classic Harley Quinn-inspired clown look added a unique and intriguing touch to her Halloween ensemble.
In contrast, Gill opted for a dragon ninja costume that featured an all-black, skin-fit jumpsuit with red stripes and a dragon insignia wrapped around her waist. She paired this outfit with knee-length black boots and allowed her straight hair to flow freely. Yashma's makeup was minimal, and she accessorized with a crossbody bag, completing her mysterious and alluring Halloween look. Before heading out, she engaged with her fans by sharing videos from her room, asking them if she should wear red wings, which she eventually went without. Her caption, "I heard Halloween," expressed her enthusiasm for the festive season.
While Sharmila and Yashma showcased their creativity and festive spirit, their choice to celebrate during a time of turmoil has sparked controversy. Many individuals have criticized them for participating in Halloween festivities at all while tragic events unfold in Palestine, with Israel bombing civilians nonstop.
Insta users argued that given the current situation, it is essential for public figures to be sensitive to global issues and take into account the sentiments of the public. Some believe that focusing on celebratory events like Halloween may be inappropriate and even offensive. They call on celebrities to "read the room" and use their platforms to raise awareness about pressing issues rather than posting about celebrations.
