The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to conduct a special five-day anti-polio vaccination drive in three districts of the province.
All the preparations in this connection have been completed and the drive is scheduled to be carried out in Peshawar, Khyber and Hangu from Oct 30.
A total of more than 1,243,000 children are scheduled to be vaccinated during the campaign, an official of the Emergency Operations Centre told The Express Tribune.
During the five-day campaign, 900,000 children will be vaccinated in Peshawar district, the EOC official said.

He disclosed that 229,000 children in Khyber district and more than 112,000 in Hangu district will be vaccinated. He said a total of 4,438 teams, including 3,874 mobile, 294 fixed and 270 transit units of trained polio workers had been formed for the special polio campaigns.
The EOC official said that 1,103 area in-charges had also been appointed for effective supervision of anti-polio teams and about 8,268 police personnel had also been deployed to provide them effective security.
