ATC sends Khadija on 14-day judicial remand

Police produced her before court in connection with hearing of the May 9 violence case

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday sent fashion designer Khadija Shah on a 14-day judicial remand in a case regarding torching police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk in the Cantonment area during the May 9 violence.

Earlier, the police produced Khadija before the court in connection with the hearing of the May 9 violence case. However, after a brief hearing, the court sent her to jail on 14-day judicial remand, directing to produce her on expiry of the remand term.

ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan conducted the proceedings on the case registered by Sarwar Road police.

The police had registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and workers under the section of Anti-Terrorism Act for torching police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk.

Separately, the Lahore High Court summoned in person the Punjab inspector general of police by Nov 3 in response to a dissatisfactory report submitted by the Capital City Police Officer in Khadija’s case.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the case.
