KARACHI:

Tragedy struck in Gulistan-e-Johar as an eight-year-old girl lost her life in a heartbreaking incident involving a speeding car colliding with a stationary rickshaw near Perfume Chowk late on Thursday night. The child's mother and the rickshaw driver sustained injuries in the accident.

The injured individuals have been identified as 45-year-old Ayesha Sajjad, the grieving mother, and 45-year-old Ghulam Abbas, the rickshaw driver.

According to the police report, the collision occurred when a woman was recklessly driving her car with a child on her lap and crashed into a parked rickshaw in front of an eatery.

The suspect, identified as Muzra Ayaz Khan a Gulistan-e-Johar resident, was released on personal surety.

The family, still grappling with their loss, recounted the sequence of events, stating that Ayesha had taken her daughter to a doctor in the Johar area.

On their way back, the child expressed hunger, prompting the rickshaw driver to pull over at an eatery near Perfume Chowk.

While they were waiting for their order, tragedy struck when a speeding car collided with their stationary rickshaw.

The rickshaw driver, Ghulam Abbas, confirmed that the lady responsible for the accident had a child on her lap while driving.

The police promptly arrived at the scene, taking the woman driver, Muzra Ayaz Khan, into custody and transporting her to the Shahrae Faisal police station. Inspector Raja Tariq Mehmood of the Shahrae Faisal police station noted that the woman was driving with a child in her lap.

As per legal procedures, Muzra was released on personal bail with the consent of the deceased child's family.

However, SHO Mehmood explained that discussions were ongoing between the victim's family and the driver's family to reach a potential settlement, indicating that legal action might be pursued if an agreement isn't reached.
