OUR CORRESPONDENT:

Punjab Police has decided to form a force to facilitate the foreigners visiting the province.

The decision comes after some cases of harassment of foreign women at tourist points in the country were reported, including an incident of eve-teasing in Murree.

The Rawalpindi police had raised a Tourism Squad. After its success, the decision has been made to develop it as a wing at the provincial level, officials said.

The members of the force will give a briefing to the visitors at the airports about the famous tourist spots in the province. To guide them, the force will collect and keep updating information about the hotels, restaurants and tourist spots.

Counters of the force will be established at three airports in the province, where male and female staff will be deputed. Two vehicles and two heavy motorbikes of the force will also remain deployed at the airports to help the tourists.

The force will work under the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) unit. The decision was taken by the executive board of the Punjab Police.
