Vandalism: Hospital staff injured by bereaved family

According to the grieved family, no doctor was available at the ward for the past two days.

KARACHI:

One evening staffer of Jinnah hospital was injured when the family of 35-year-old Lubna, who died on Saturday, wrecked the ward 5 of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre.

Lubna was a resident of Landhi and had been brought in to the hospital three days before Eid, with high fever and pain. The family alleged that she had died because of the negligence of doctors.

According to the family, the doctors had not been present in the ward for the past two days. They said that the  patients are left to the mercy of junior doctors and house officers.

They said that they had called for doctors  repeatedly on Friday when Lubna’s condition began to worsen.

They started to protest as soon as they heard about Lubna’s death. The management called the Saddar police who came and took control of the situation.

The family demanded that the department of health conduct an inquiry into Lubna’s death. The assistant director of the hospital, Choudhry Akram, denied any negligence on the part of doctors and said that a report will presented soon after an inquiry.
