It isn’t a time for celebration: Azaan pushes music release in solidarity with Palestine

The self-titled album was slated for an October 30 release

In a gesture of support, actor-singer Azaan Sami has decided to withhold upcoming album, AZAAN in solemn acknowledgment of Israeli brutality in Gaza and the West Bank. The much-awaited record was primed for release on October 30. The artist made the announcement on his Instagram account, penning a heartfelt note, “When I make music, I make it to spread love. This album is the same. If love isn’t celebrated, I don’t feel I’d be doing justice to the music.”

Addressing the inhumane conditions of Palestinians under siege, Azaan expressed, “It deeply saddens me to witness what’s going on in the world right now and despite however much I may want the music to come out, it isn’t a time for celebration. The atrocities in Palestine and the attack on the Muslim world is an attack on each and every one of us.”

The Ik Lamha singer added, “With a heavy heart, I would like to say that I am pushing the album release to the 12th of November.” The singer, affirming his hopes for a “global intervention” to restore peace and autonomy for Palestinians, went on to add, “There are no words or actions that can truly compensate for the incomparable losses families are bearing, however, one can only ask Allah to give Sabr and strength to those suffering and pray that sanity can emerge.”

Azaan recently surprised his fans by dropping the YouTube video for one of his new unreleased singles, Nadaan Dil from his upcoming global release. The video features his recording session at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London. This decision comes last minute, reflecting the sentiments of millions devastated by Israeli aggression in Palestine.

“I stand with Palestine, Kashmir, my Muslim community all over the world, and all the innocent lives lost and families shattered everywhere. I, InshAllah, hope we work towards a world where our children don't repeat the mistakes we have all made or bear the consequences of it,” the actor concluded his message.
