Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has been working on the digitization of public sector livestock management which has been financed under annual development program.
Secretary Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Department, Dr Muhammad Israr, presided over a meeting in Peshawar to deliberate on the digitalization process.
The discussion encompassed topics such as animal records, production, nutrition, disease prevention, health, management, and farm assets, drawing inspiration from the tele farming model implemented by the agriculture extension department.
Attendees included Director General of Livestock Research, Dr Muhammad Ijaz Ali, Additional Secretary of Livestock, Asghar Khan, Registrar Cooperative, Farhan Khan, and officers from the livestock, fisheries, and agriculture departments.
Dr Israr underscored the necessity of transitioning from paper-based record-keeping to a real-time database that offers swift access to comprehensive livestock and farm information.
In pursuit of this digitalization endeavour, experts from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and the agriculture department were invited for their subject matter expertise.
Director General of BISP, Dr Asim Ijaz, presented the features of a digital services platform system and offered suggestions for enhancing existing modules.
He expressed his commitment to cooperating in the digitization of livestock farms, aligning them with the BISP database model as required.
