KARACHI:

With one week left in the deadline for the illegal immigrants to leave the country, the Sindh government has offered to facilitate the foreigners who want to return to their country of origin.

Home Minister Brig (retd) Haris Nawaz and Balochistan Information Minister Jaan Achakzai addressed a joint press conference at the Karachi Press Club.

During the press conference, Haris Nawaz said that October 31 deadline has been fixed for illegal residents to leave the country voluntarily. From November 1, strict action will be taken against the unregistered foreigners, he warned.

He said that the provincial government will facilitate migrants in their journey to their respective countries. He said that the government has obtained all the data. He rejected the impression that operation was only against those belonging to one nationality.

He said that the operation is being carried out against all those foreigners illegally residing in Pakistan. Balochistan information minister mentioned that illegal foreigners have only a week to leave the country.

Balochistan government will send back every single illegal resident. The provincial government has established exit points and also built camps.

Migrants who refuse to go back will face arrest and prosecution. The state is concerned about illegal residents who are involved in illegal activities.

Political parties should avoid patronage of illegal residents. Patronizing illegal residents will be considered anti-state action. Blocking highways will not be tolerated in the province. Tribal disputes will be resolved in a tribal way. All federal institutions are doing their work in this regard.

Achakzai met the Sindh interior minister to discuss the issue of illegal foreigners and to make joint efforts for their evacuation. He said that the coastal highway will be made safe and the entry-exit point is also being made safe.

Achakzai said that the operation against smuggling of Iranian petroleum products and Afghan goods will continue.
