You live in our hearts: Osman Khalid Butt pens note for Noor Mukadam on 30th birth anniversary
Actor Osman Khalid Butt, on Monday, took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a note on what would have been Noor Mukadam's 30th birth anniversary. The Balu Mahi star attended a seminar organised by Noor's near and dear to end gender-based violence.
Sharing a beautiful portrait of Noor, Osman shared, "Noor Mukadam would have turned 30 today." He furthered, "Instead of celebrating with her, her family and loved ones, along with civil society members, ambassadors, diplomats and former members of the National Assembly came together for a seminar on endemic femicide and gender-based violence."
The actor went on in another tweet, "Please take a moment to pray for Noor, for her family, and for all the women and girls of Pakistan who have been victims of brutal violence. Justice must prevail. And it will, Insha’Allah." Osman concluded, "You may be gone, but you live on in all our hearts, Noor."
Justice for Noor, an account run by the Mukadam family on X, also penned a note for their 'beautiful Noor. "Happy Birthday to our beautiful Noor," the tweet read. "Gone from sight but never from our hearts."
Last year, Osman attended a demonstration for the victim. In a video that circulated on social media, the Baaji star could be seen saying, "She [Noor] was exceptionally talented but what struck me most about her was her inherent sense of kindness and goodness. She was pure of heart and beautiful inside out. And everyone present here, everyone who knew her personally or even interacted with her briefly can attest to that. Noor was the brightest and the best among us."
Noor, 27, was found murdered at Zahir Jaffer’s residence in Islamabad's upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20, 2021. Zahir was later convicted of brutally murdering Noor and was sentenced to the death penalty. According to an interim charge sheet submitted in court on September 9, the Police had stated that Zahir’s father was complicit in the murder and had knowledge of the brutal act.
