Shah summoned for not following ECP directives to transfer Sheikhupura deputy commissioner

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned the prime minister's principal secretary and establishment division secretary in their personal capacity on October 23 (Monday) for not following its directives to transfer the Sheikhupura deputy commissioner.

According to a statement issued by the ECP, the case will be heard by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, Sindh member Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa member Justice (retd) Ikramullah Khan.

The statement read that an application was filed by the Istehkam- e-Pakistan Party (IPP) for allotment of a symbol for the upcoming general polls as prescribed under rule 162 of the Election Act, 2017.

It added that Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Touqeer Shah and Establishment Division Secretary Inamullah should explain to the commission why they had not complied with the directions issued by the ECP to transfer Sheikhupura Deputy Commissioner Waqar Ali.
