Speedy competition of RR project ordered

Ring Road project will span 38.3km and feature six lanes

RAWALPINDI:

Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has pledged to ensure the timely completion of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project by September 2024.

Arriving late on Friday night at the project site in Rawalpindi, the chief minister inspected the construction work, expressing his commitment to overseeing its progress.

He issued directives to the Rawalpindi commissioner and officials from the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to ensure that the project adhered to its schedule.

Naqvi also ordered the swift deployment of additional manpower to accelerate project work. Furthermore, he instructed the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) to expedite the delivery of project-related drawings.

Recognising the need to expedite the earthwork phase, the chief minister emphasised increasing the number of dumpers. He made it clear that he would personally supervise the Rawalpindi Ring Road and directed the Rawalpindi commissioner to provide regular progress reports.

Mohsin Naqvi also visited the FWO camp office, where he received a briefing from officials regarding earthwork and other project-related matters.

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project, as briefed, will span 38.3 kilometers and feature six lanes. In attendance at this site inspection were the provincial health minister Dr Jamal Nasir, as well as representatives from the FWO, commissioner’s office, Regional Police Officer’s office (RPO), and City Police Officer’s office (CPO).

Notably, the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce’s request to establish an industrial zone as part of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project has been approved.

In addition to this, the Rawalpindi Development Authority has initiated a feasibility study for the Thalian to Sangjani Ring Road Project in Phase 2, following the completion of the Rawat to Thalian Motorway route in Phase 1 of the Ring Road project.
