Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha Thursday presided over the first meeting of the steering committee formed by the Punjab chief secretary to review headway on the urban development projects of the district.
Chattha said the work on-site in the Rawalpindi Ring Road project was going on in full swing and efforts were being made to complete it before the target given for completion.
“One year target i.e. September 2024 has been set for its completion, but we intend to complete it before the scheduled date as compensation for the delay in this public welfare project till now,” he said.
“Apart from this, the Rawalpindi Development Authority has been directed to start the process of hiring a consultant for the feasibility report of phase two from Thalian to Sangjani,” he added.
Earlier, the commissioner said the objective of the steering committee was to remove the bottlenecks faced while working on the ground.
Talking about Nullah Leh, Chattha said the maximum discharge of the 17-km-long drain was 72,000 cusecs. Giving the updated status regarding the remodelling of Kachehri Chowk, he said the daily traffic count was 250,000 vehicles.
