PESHAWAR:

The Caretaker Minister for Information, Culture, and Tourism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel, has announced that in light of the recent decrease in petroleum prices, transport fares will be lowered to benefit the general public.

During a press conference at the Itlaa Cell Civil Secretariat in Peshawar, Kakakhel emphasized the government’s commitment to good governance with a primary focus on the welfare of the people.

He stated that following a significant nationwide drop in oil prices, the provincial government is swiftly taking measures to pass on these benefits to the public.

As part of these efforts, transport fares are set to undergo a substantial reduction of 12 to 13 percent. This initiative, beginning in Peshawar, will extend to other districts, with deputy commissioners receiving directives and the formation of inspection committees to ensure effective implementation. The minister expects a noticeable reduction in transport fares and other items in a short timeframe.

Regarding security and law enforcement, Kakakhel noted that the provincial government maintains a strict policy of zero tolerance against smuggling and other criminal activities, which has yielded positive results and continues to be closely monitored.

He addressed the issue of undocumented individuals residing in the country, emphasizing the importance of legal documentation for those living in a foreign land.

Kakakhel mentioned that after October 31, appropriate legal action will be taken against individuals without proper documentation, regardless of their country of origin.

He stressed that the government’s objective is not to single out any particular nation but to encourage undocumented individuals to return to their home countries and subsequently come back to Pakistan through legal channels. The government remains open and welcoming to those who adhere to legal procedures.
