‘Egg-cellent’ celebration on World Egg Day

Event urges women to add eggs to daily diet to fight malnutrition

KARACHI:

An event was held in a Sindh village to mark World Poultry Egg Day, promoting the nutritional benefits of eggs among women.

The Women's Wing of the World Poultry Science Association, Pakistan Branch, organised a seminar and walk in Haji Ramzan Pathan Village, Hyderabad. During the event, women artisans showcased specially crafted items to highlight the nutritional value of eggs and an egg dish competition was also held.

The activities were conducted under Dr Fariha Talha, President of WPSA Pakistan. Dr Fariha Talha addressed the audience virtually, emphasising the importance of incorporating eggs into their diet to combat malnutrition. The day began with a lively World Egg Day Walk, where participants were educated about the significance of eggs in improving health. Participants were informed about the nutritional benefits of eggs and dispelled any misconceptions regarding egg consumption. Various competitions, including an egg dish competition and a handicraft competition, were conducted, and prizes were awarded to the top performers.

Additionally, free eggs were distributed to the attendees, and eggs were provided to their homes. The event received support from Umar Tariq of One Feed and financial backing from Fartal Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Samira, Joint Secretary of the South Zone, virtually led the event, with assistance from other members of the WPSA Women's Wing and veterinary students. Dr. Ghulam Asghar was the program coordinator, offering valuable support throughout the event.
