Youth shot dead for resisting robbery

Suspects deprive grocery store owner of Rs10,000

RAWALPINDI:

A youth was shot dead in Rawalpindi's Civil Lines area on Sunday while resisting a robbery.

According to a spokesperson for the police, the unfortunate turn of events unfolded on the night of September 15, at around 10pm, when three armed suspects on a motorcycle targeted a local grocery store owned by a man named Mohammad Pervaiz, in Gulistan Colony Lane No 3.

The robbers snatched Rs10,000 in cash from the victim and subjected him to a brutal assault as well. In the ensuing struggle, one of the robbers on a motorcycle opened fire, causing two bullets to strike Ali Pervaiz, the victim, one in the shoulder and another in the chest.

Local residents came to his aid, transporting him to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where doctors conducted an immediate operation.

Tragically, the injuries proved fatal and he succumbed to them during the course of treatment.

Rawalpindi police registered a murder case against the unidentified assailants at the Civil Lines police station.

After a post-mortem examination, the police handed over the deceased's body to his grieving family.
