Voter’s Awareness Week starts tomorrow in Haripur

Seminars, workshops and rallies will be held in schools, colleges

HARIPUR:

In order to create awareness among the public about the importance of casting a vote, a Voter’s Awareness Week will be observed from Monday (tomorrow) till 21 October in Haripur.

The event is being organised with the aim of providing information to the people regarding their right to vote, the importance of votes and awareness regarding registration in the voter’s list.

In this connection, during the Voter's Awareness Week, seminars, workshops, rallies and other events will be held in schools, colleges, universities and other public places in the district.

This was announced in a meeting held in the office of the additional deputy commissioner the other day. Regional Election Commissioner Hazara Division Zulfiqar Ahmed presided over the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not only organises the elections in the country but also plays a role in providing awareness to the masses regarding their right of vote.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abid, district election commissioner Shaukat Hussain, election officer Umar Saleem, Sajida Malik of Aghaz Development Organisation, Sajida Hasrat of PTI, social activist Tehseen ul Haq Awan, representative of transgender community Saima Shaukat, representative of youth Moattar Qaisar, and others attended the meeting.

Zulfiqar Ahmed said that he would like to request his all brothers and sisters especially youngsters to use their precious vote and elect sincere and able people who can raise problems and difficulties in the big forums of government.

District Election Commissioner Shaukat Hussain said that the use of the vote is a national duty which plays a vital role in the electoral process. Real public representatives can only be elected through votes, he said, adding that the elected representatives work for the prosperity of the public.
