Two in three boys fail to clear grade XI exams
Over half the students who appeared for the first-year papers of the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE) failed to clear the exam, said the BISE as it announced the results on Tuesday.
BISE Controller Examinations Professor Sajid Mahmood Farooqui said that 65,400 candidates enrolled for the intermediate part-I (annual) examination, with 63,892 candidates sitting for the examination.
Of those, 38,267 students were girls and 25,625 students were boys. Of those, 58,843 were regular candidates while 5,049 were private candidates.
Of the students who sat for the exam, 27,896 candidates were successful with a pass percentage of 43.66 per cent. 35,848 students failed the exam.
The success ratio for boys was 33.09 per cent, while female students had a success rate of 50.74 per cent for a difference of 17.65 per cent.
The results have been posted on the board's website and sent via SMS on the numbers the students provided in their enrollment forms. Additionally, the results of regular institutions have been posted on the gazette portal.
Students who failed or received a compartment have all been promoted to the second yea, said the controller. These students will give second-year and first-year compartment subject papers in the next annual examination.
Meanwhile, BISE Chairman Adnan Khan claimed that the booty mafia, a blanket term for those involved in systemic cheating in examinations, had been wiped out. “The board’s examination processes have been made transparent and computerised,” he said.
