PAKPATTAN:

An elderly man has sought help from the police against his own son who the man accuses of having tortured him for not accepting his demand for transferring property to his name.

Police had registered a case against the suspect, Shahzad, on the complaint of his father, Pir Bakhsh.

Bakhsh told the police that his son had allegedly kicked and punched him and also struck him with bricks for refusing to give in to his demand of transferring the elderly man’s property to the suspect.

The complainant also alleged that several months ago his son had sprinkled him with petrol and threatened to burn him alive if he didn’t do his bidding.

Somehow the suspect didn’t carry out his
threat then.

Bakhsh had been shaken by that episode and had contacted Farid Nagar Police Station where an FIR had been registered, but his son allegedly played tricks with Bakhsh by apologising to him for what he had allegedly done and promised his father that he would be obedient to him.

The trick worked, and the elderly man took his son’s words at face value.

Bakhsh told the police that his son went back on his word because greed for property had made him mad.

Things ultimately came to such a pass where the elderly man suffered brutality at the hands of his son.

Pir Bakhsh had been beaten to the extent that he had to be transferred to the DHQ hospital.

Before being hospitalized, Pir Bakhsh had been visited by the DPO of Pakpattan, Tariq Wilayat, at his house who assured the senior citizen of full police cooperation.

The DPO also said that the suspect would be arrested soon.

In a separate incident, a trader, Nasir, was shot dead while resisting unidentified robbers in the jurisdiction of Ahmed Yar Police Station in Moin Kot.

However, the bandits not only shot dead Nasir but also robbed his fellow traders of Rs0.7 million and fled.

Four traders of Biswari Shah in the vicinity of Moin Kot area of Ahmed Yar Police Station had been going to buy livestock from Jamlera Mandi.

Two armed robbers riding a motorcycle approached Moin Kot and stole Rs0.7 million in cash and shot dead Nasir, who hailed from Okara.

Upon learning about the event, teams from the Ahmed Yar Police Station arrived at the crime scene to collect evidence.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the THQ Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The DPO of Pakpattan, Tariq Wilayat, also visited the crime scene.

Under the direction of the SDPO, Malik Tariq Javed Awan, the DPO formed a special team with the specific purpose of immediately apprehending the unidentified accused.

The DPO also met with the bereaved family members at the THQ Hospital and offered them his condolences. The DPO assured the family members of the deceased that the accused would be arrested soon.

The RPO of Sahiwal took strict notice of the robbery-cum-murder incident in the Ahmed Yar area and asked for a report from the DPO of Pakpattan.

He gave the police team 48 hours to trace the culprits.
