Agricultural, commercial consumers found involved in electricity theft in Lahore

LAHORE:

Several large agricultural and commercial consumers were found involved in electricity theft in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara on Sunday.

According to a spokesperson for the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), its teams detected 407 connections involved in electricity theft in the five districts on the 31st day of a campaign.

The spokesperson told the media that the company has filed applications for registration of FIRs against 405 people engaged in electricity theft, upon which 193 cases had been registered at the respective police stations and 43 suspects apprehended.

The company severed three industrial, 18 commercial, nine agricultural and 377 domestic connections during the past day with total detection bills amounting to Rs36.53 million for 1.45 million units.
