DIJKOT:

Five armed suspects reportedly robbed a private bank on Lari Adda Road on Friday. The suspects escaped with Rs12.5 million and the security guard’s weapon and mobile phone.

The gang also allegedly tortured the security guard and locked the bank from the outside before making their escape.

After the robbery, the CPO and a contingent of police officers reached the scene and formed teams led by SP CIA to arrest the robbers. This has been the second major bank robbery in Faisalabad within two months, with police unable to solve a single case.

According to the incident, the suspected robbers entered the bank in front of Islamia College under the pretext of depositing money in the afternoon. They then took the security guard and bank staff hostage and stole Rs12.5 million. Upon resistance from the security guard, they severely tortured him, snatched his weapon and escaped. The robbers locked the bank staff and security guard in a room, locked the bank from outside and escaped on motorcycles. After the incident, a large number of citizens gathered on the spot.

As soon as information about the bank robbery was received, senior police officers including City Police Officer (CPO) Usman Akram Gondal, SP Lyallpur Town Irtaza Kamil, SP CIA Abid Hussain Zafar and DSP Civil Lines Aamir Waheed reached the scene and started taking steps to catch the robbers as soon as possible using modern technology. Despite blockades across the district, police could not catch the motorcycle riders who robbed the bank.
